Summer gardens

Gardens are magical places.  Whether for shade, flowers, vegetables, rocks, birds, butterflies, or water, gardens of any variety are healthy and happy spaces for many creatures.

Farm Follies

Where does our food come from?  August is a perfect time to celebrate farms and those hard working people who feed us.  Roadside stands and farmer's markets are overflowing with fresh, colorful, healthy food, just taken from the earth.

To learn more about farming, visit a local farm!  If you can't get to one, visit the library, where we have a bushel of books for you, and the kids in your life, to read about how food is grown and raised before being prepared for the table.  Here are a few:

 
   

The Story Behind the Understory

Join us on Friday, September 8, at noon in the library, as we talk with New Hampshire author Tim Horvath about his book Understories, and about the writing process itself.  Tim teaches creative writing at the New Hampshire Institute of Art, and at workshops internationally.

Copies of the book are available in the library.  Bring your lunch!

White Mountain Community College

I am delighted to be here at the White Mountains Community College. I recently moved to Gorham from Bartlett, NH by way of Portland, Maine and Heidelberg, Germany. I love reading, exploring technology, teaching and learning, and I am lucky to be able to do all these things here at The White Mountains Community College.

I received a Master of Science Degree in Library and Information from Simmons College. My library experience is in public libraries as well as K-8 school libraries and library instruction.

When I am not in the library I am likely reading, hiking, skiing, cooking, traveling, or exploring the North Country. I enjoy getting to know the White Mountains Community College community- come on in and say hi and please come to library with any questions you may have about the library or an upcoming research project.
