The next White Mountains Community College/Berlin Public Library evening book discussion will be on Wednesday, October 19 at 7 p.m. at the WMCC Library, when Holly Perrault will delve into the novel Sula by Toni Morrison.

Hard to believe Fall is here already, at least the Fall semester anyway.

This year the WMCC's Fortier Library hours are slightly different:

Monday-Thursday: 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Friday: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lunchtime Book Discussion

On Thursday, October 6, join us at the WMCC Fortier Library, around noontime, when we will be meeting to discuss Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird.

First published in 1960, this Pulitzer Prize winning novel has become a modern classic, addressing issues of race, gender roles, rape, integrity, and heroism.

Copies--audio and print--are available to borrow in the library.

Frankly My Dear...

Margaret Mitchell's Pulitzer prizewinning novel Gone with the Wind is celebrating its 75th anniversary in 2011.

On Thursday, August 25th, the lunchtime book discussion group will be meeting at noon in the WMCC Library to discuss this work of historical fiction that has itself become a piece of American history.

If you've seen the movie, or already read the book, join us as we travel back in time, to Scarlett O'Hara's Old South.

One Hundred Years of Solitude

Starting off the White Mountains Community College/Berlin Public Library's 2011 fall lecture/discussion series on Wednesday, August 24, at 7 p.m., is One Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel García Márquez.

Originally written in 1967, this highly acclaimed story, first written in Spanish and translated into 37 languages, tells the story of seven generations through turbulent times.

Copies of the book are available for loan at both the WMCC library and the Berlin Public Library.

This event is funded, in part, by the NH Humanities Council.
