The Help

Set in the years of the American civil rights movement, the lives of three women, of very different backgrounds, come together and risk everything.

Join the WMCC lunchtime book discussion group as we meet to compare notes on Kathryn Stockett's The Help.

The group will meet on Thursday, December 2, at lunchtime. Copies of the book and audio are available in the library.

Sanibel Flats

Island life with great neighbors, food, and beer was too good to be true for Doc Ford. Just as he got comfortable, his past found him.

Another modern "hardboiled detective" mystery, Sanibel Flats is the last in our Tough Guys series. Please join us at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at the White Mountains Community College Fortier Library for a discussion led by local author, Craig Doherty. The series is funded in part by the New Hampshire Humanities Council. Copies of the book are available at the White Mountains Community College Fortier Library and the Berlin Public Library.

Kill a what?

Thanks to a generous donation from the NHSaves and the New Hampshire State Library, patrons of the WMCC Fortier Library can borrow a Kill A Watt Energy Detector.

Simply plug the device into an outlet, and plug the appliance into the detector for one hour. This little device shows how much energy an appliance uses, even when not in use (the clock on a DVD player, for instance).

Ask a member of the library staff if you can check out the Kill A Watt Energy Detector and Cut the Carbon in your home.
