The Godwulf Manuscript

Meet Spenser, a Boston private detective. In Robert B. Parker's novel, The Godwulf Manuscript, Spenser is hired to track down a stolen manuscript, hopefully without getting himself killed in the process.

This title is the first in the Spenser series, which was the basis for the popular TV series, Spenser For Hire.

Please join us for the third in our Tough Guys series on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at 7 p.m. at the White Mountains Community College Fortier Library with Dartmouth scholar Suzanne Brown leading the discussion. The series is funded in part by the New Hampshire Humanities Council.

What's new?

Thanks to the Student Senate, we now have three shiny new computers with Windows 7. They've got Microsoft Office 2007, Open Office 3.2, dvd/cd readers/burners, as well as some specialty software, and are very fast! Look for the lilac desktop images for these new additions.

Our Friday hours have expanded! We are opening at 7 a.m. on Fridays now (and are still staying open until 7 p.m).

The Deep Blue Goodbye

The Deep Blue Goodbye is the first in author John D. Macdonald's series of mysteries with "beach bum" hero Travis McGee at the helm of his boat based in Ft. Lauderdale.

The second session in the Tough Guys evening book discussion series will take place at 7 p.m. on Wednesday September 15, 2010 led by Dartmouth scholar, Suzanne Brown, at the White Mountains Community College Fortier Library. The series is funded in part by the New Hampshire Humanities Council.

The Maltese Falcon

The first title in our Fall 2010 Tough Guys evening book discussion series is Dashiell Hammett's The Maltese Falcon.

In The Maltese Falcon, we are introduced to tough guy and private eye Sam Spade, and the classic storyline is born: intriguing beauty walks into a detective's office, and murder, mystery, and mayhem follow.

The discussion will be on Wednesday, August 18, at 7 p.m. led by local author, Craig Doherty. The series is funded in part by the New Hampshire Humanities Council.
