Death of a Salesman

On Wednesday, August 29th, at 7 p.m., at WMCC Fortier Library the Berlin Public Library and WMCC Fortier Library will cosponsor a book discussion led by scholar Suzanne Brown of Arthur Miller's classic play, Death of a Salesman. The discussion is the first event in our Fall  2012 The Way We Worked series. Copies of the book will be available for loan at the Berlin Public Library and WMCC Fortier Library.




This event is funded, in part, by the NH Humanities Council.  It is open to the public free of charge and refreshments will be served.

Beyond Brown Paper

Lengthening its visit at WMCC, Plymouth State University's Beyond Brown Paper exhibit is available for viewing through mid-October at the Fortier Library.

Over 11,000 photographs were taken from the late 19th to the mid 20th centuries by Brown Company staff photographers.  They have been scanned and are available at the website:  Beyond Brown Paper.

WMCC/BPL Fall Evening Program Schedule

This fall, WMCC Fortier Library and Berlin Public Library are once again partnering with the NH Humanities Council to bring humanities programming to the North Country. An exhibit, "The Way We Worked," from the Smithsonian Institution will be on display at the WMCC Fortier Library from November 5th through December 19th, 2012.  To complement the exhibit, we will host two book discussions, a panel discussion, and a humanities program.

August 29, 2012:  Book discussion on
Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller

September 26, 2012:  Book discussion on
Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich
Scholar: Craig Doherty
 
November 14:  Panel discussion on how we worked in the North Country with panelists:  Bill Thomas, Linda Upham-Bornstein, Jim Wagner, and Barry Kelly

November 28:  Jennifer Pustz, Museum Historian at Historic New England will present a talk on the history of domestic servants

All events will be held at White Mountains Community College on Wednesdays, beginning at 7 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. Copies of the books will be available for loan at Berlin Public Library and WMCC Fortier Library.
